Lincoln Plaza, Curio by Hilton - Canary Wharf

London

The Brief

Nestled amongst London’s most recognisable business district, Curio Hilton Canary Wharf is a far cry from the standard built-for-businessmen hotels this area is noted for. The design brief for all 129 rooms and public areas was to be noticeably distinguished from the standard executive hotel offering, paying homage to the location’s rich industrial history through metal and concrete features, accented against softer upholstery and finishes.

The Finished Products

The TV units, bedside tables and breakfast tables, all supplied and installed by Distinction Group, embodied this brief by fusing together natural and industrial materials for a stylish yet subtle finish. The striking TV unit functions as a statement piece, combining powder coated black metal with warm walnut

Dark marble surfaces on the breakfast tables, combine with the earthy, rust-hued tones on the bedsides to fill the spacious rooms with comforting and homely textures. The completed products are an amalgamation of warm yet striking

Jumeirah Village Circle - V Holdings

Dubai

The Brief

With panoramic views of Jumeirah’s famous beachfront, the sweeping 800ft tower at FIVE’s Jumeirah Village Circle site is Dubai’s most ambitious development to date.

The revolutionary design of the property was conceptualized in house by FIVE Holdings. Distinction Group was approached by FIVE to furnish all the expansive public areas in the development, as well as indoor and outdoor furniture and loose furniture and casegoods for a number of the guest rooms and apartments.

Having worked with Distinction Group previously on FIVE’s The Palm, Jumeirah residence, the developers were confident in offering Distinction Group the opportunity to source and manufacture a diverse range of furniture for this project.

Due to their experience with the eclecticism and variety of The Palms many public areas, Distinction were exceedingly qualified to take on the similarly divergent work at Jumeirah Village Circle.

The Finished Items

The luxurious development boasts 247 guest rooms, 221 one and two-bedroom hotel apartments and 33 four-bedroom hotel apartments. Most notably, the building’s 360-degree balconies feature an extraordinary 271 private pools that line the edge of the hotel.

Whilst the scope of the project is evidently grand, it is only the beginning of the project’s opulence. The design intent features clean silhouettes and paired back luxury for a simple metropolitan finish. The décor is playful and fun, tailored to suit Dubai’s increasing clientele of holidaying young professionals.

In the guest rooms, the interior scheme includes neutral upholstery contrasted by warm wood surfaces, offering a homely Scandinavian-inspired atmosphere. Soft finishes against bright white walls enhance the abundance of natural light streaming in through the large balcony doors and floor-to-ceiling windows.

This theme of modern luxury extends through to the outdoor furniture, where guests are treated to a modern urban oasis, complete with plush outdoor sofas and sun loungers fit for enjoying stunning views across the Arabian gulf.

Holiday Inn Express - Bridgwater

Somerset

The Brief

Situated against the beautiful rural backdrop of Somerset, the new five-storey Holiday Inn Express aims to provide accommodation for visitors to Hinkley Point C and surrounding areas. However, its unique location, just moments from the M25, means guests are well equipped to explore anywhere from Cheddar Gorge to Weston-Super Mare.

As a well-established brand name, it was imperative that the furnishings in Bridgwater were reflective of Holiday Inn and Zeal Hotel’s acknowledged brand identity. Distinction were tasked with creating furniture that was not only recognisably Holiday Inn, but that appeared dynamically modern and unique.

The Finished Items

The décor throughout the hotel boasts softly curved edges, inspired by Scandinavian design and includes sharp injections of colour for a bright and modern finish. The public areas are warm and welcoming, with an abundance of natural light to further enhance the colourful scheme.

The distinctive design was developed with the intention of creating a modern but homely feel for guests. The upholstery features boxy shapes and clean lines for an urban feel. Offset against the warm natural oak surfaces, the result is a vibrant and comforting space that’s perfect for unwinding.

The collection of double, twin and double-double bedrooms were designed and manufactured with a distinctive uniformity. The bold colours and modern edging are immediately recognisable as classic Holiday Inn branding. Distinction manufactured all the furniture for the guest rooms, including bespoke wall fixed TV panels and tea & coffee stations designed with fluid edges to maximise space within the room.
